Dear Friends of the Theatre, Students and Family:
The Theatre Department at Laguna Creek High School cordially invites you to join us in an amazing journey – one in which we will dazzle and shine along vibrant, exciting streets of new learning and discovery, face challenges head-on, make new friends and experience the powerful gift of being a part of the LCHS Booster's Cardinal Theatre.
I am so excited to be teaching here at Laguna Creek High School. I’m looking forward to our upcoming production of Little Shop of Horrors with our talented cast. For this production and future productions to be successful, there must be a high level of commitment from all parties involved. With that in mind, we are asking you to carefully consider the opportunity we are presenting – including the time, energy, and resources needed to make it happen. A half-hearted effort from just one person will quell the efforts of the whole team.
In exchange for your dedication, we can promise an unforgettable experience that goes well beyond the misconception of high school theatre as a mere “after-school” activity. Theatre is a true labor of love. It comes from the soul (dantian). Theatre cultivates viable skills and trades that will be with us always. Life-long bonds of friendship and family are born here. Theatre is about community.
Following are some key points for your consideration:
Please consider making a financial contribution toward the cost of the production and of maintaining drama club expenses. All school activities, from band to volleyball, depend upon donations from parents. Likewise, the theatre department must count on generosity from families and friends, as we exist almost entirely through private contributors and self-support. We are in a constant effort to increase funds to cover costs associated with Little Shop of Horrors and the theatre, in general (costumes, sets, mics, lighting, props, etc…).
You may write a check and send it 9050 Vicino Dr. Elk Grove CA, 95785, Att: Zachary W. Magan. Make checks payable to LCHS Boosters Cardinal Theatre. No student will be excluded from participating in any school-related activities because the student or their parents has not made a donation. Also, any suggested donation amount is voluntary. If you choose to make a donation, you can make it any amount you deem appropriate. No donations will be returned to you if your child decides or is unable to participate in the program to which you donated.
Please pay extra attention to the list of dates that have been attached. We have planned days for parents to come and help with set building, ushering, etc. We ask that parent(s)/guardian(s) of the cast spend any time they’re available in the theatre during pre- and post-production. We need all the help we can get, but most importantly, we want you to witness and participate in what your son or daughter is experiencing. We also expect actors to actively participate in the building of the set for their set.
We will also be sending you a wish list of materials, equipment, and services. Assistance acquiring any item on the list will be greatly appreciated. See the wish list, attached. In addition, we ask that everyone attempt to sell at least one playbill advertisement.
Volunteer to help the “Friends of the Theatre” parent group and participate in the effort to steer the program towards growth and improvement. Without involvement from the parents, the increasing lack of support from state and local government would result in our program slowly deteriorating and the space itself falling into disrepair. It’s also a great way to let your son or daughter know how much you care about them and support their efforts.
Above all, we want to feel confident that when we gather the ensemble of students and parents to make a production happen, everyone involved is committed to its success. We look forward to working with you and making this a great experience for everyone involved. If you have any questions or issues, please feel free to contact myself, or Jean Murphy. Go Cardinal Theatre!
